It is the perfect blend of a little sweet from the frozen mangoes and bananas, additional fiber from the chia seeds, anti-inflammatory help from the cucumbers and high nutritional value from the spinach. Is there a better way to get more spinach in your diet?? I am eating more spinach than ever thanks to this smoothie recipe. Try this healthy mango green smoothie and you’ll be hooked!
Ingredients for this Healthy Mango Green Smoothie
- Frozen Cubed Mangoes
- Frozen Bananas (see below)
- Chia Seeds
- Cucumber
- Spinach
- Protein Powder (optional)
Best place to find these ingredients: Costco carries Frozen Cubed Mangoes and Chia Seeds or the frozen section for mangoes and health food/baking section for Chia Seeds at your local grocery store.
Frozen Bananas
Make your own frozen bananas by peeling your ripe (or very ripe) banana. Break off 2” pieces of banana and place the pieces in a freezer zippered bag. Seal and freeze. It’s that simple! The frozen banana pieces break apart easily after they are frozen, even though they look connected. They freeze well for up to 3 months.

How to Make a Healthy Mango Green Smoothie
Step-by-Step:
- Put frozen mangoes and bananas in the bottom of the blender. Putting them on the bottom insures they will get crushed completely.
- Add Chia seeds and protein powder (if using) next so they get mixed and not attached to the side of the blender container.
- Peel cucumber and cut into 1” slices. You can decide not to peel the cucumber, but you may find pieces of the peel in your smoothie. I have found it doesn’t blend as easily.
- Top with spinach. Press the spinach down before blending. No matter the add-ins, put spinach on top.
- Add water either before or after the spinach.
- Blend well until all the spinach is completely blended and not chunky. When you think it is blended enough, let it mix just a little bit longer for smoothness.
- Serve cold.
Other add-ins that we love:
- Strawberries: contains Anti-oxidants, Heart health, Vitamins, Fiber
- Lemon–cut off the peel and put in whole near the bottom of blender: contain Vitamin C, Fiber, Weight-loss, Digestion
- Pear–not-peeled and cored: contain Anti-oxidants, Heart health, Anti-inflammatory, Bone health, Vitamins K, B2, B3, C
- Apple–peeled and cored—blend extra well as the texture will be thicker: contain Fiber, Anti-oxidants, Heart health, Anti-inflammatory, Gut health, Vitamins A, E, B1, B2, C
- 2-3 Romaine Lettuce leaves: contains Vitamin C, Anti-oxidants, Calcium
- Fresh Parsley leaves: contains Anti-oxidants, Vitamins A, K, C
